Aaaahhhhhh ..... Love Is A Many Splendid Thing (well I think that's how the song goes).
I have hated this heat we have been enduring (I know, I know, my poor blog friends in the UK are suffering their worst snow storms, but just for an hour a day I'd love to trade places with you, happy for you to pop over here to warm up too).
Last week I actually went on strike, first time in my career (not in my life, as I'm sure at some stage I've gone on strike for various household duties as a teenager ... and wife!), anyway the heat was unbearable last week. Friday night I could no longer cope, after a 45 degree celcious, skin sizzling, horrid day, no relief in sight, well I'm embarassed to say I "flipped out".
Poor Farmer Rowe was at his office, busily working away (actually from memory I think her later told me he was out on a site job and was actually walking around in the heat with no hat or sunscreen), when he started to receive some rather weird text messages from the lady, I am now embarrased to say, was quite possibly me.
I don't really think I need to re-live it all with you, but a miracle did occur - 12 hours later we were standing in an airconditioning store buying a fancy schmancy Invertor thingame (it blows really cold, and when you are too cold it will blow hot .... that's all I need to know, oh, and it will clean the air of dust and odour as well!). There was a slight chance we could have it installed within the week, but most likely 3 weeks.
I had a great phone discussion with my friend Jo (female) at midnight on Sunday, quite short for us actually, she and I have been known to flatten phone batteries with our 3 hour marathon chats (usually only stopping when I'm dying to visit the little girls room, and I refuse to keep talking to her in there - yes, she is a better chatterbox than I, if you can believe it). Anyway, back to our chat, Jo offered to give me tips on flirting with tradesman to get an earlier booking time for the airconditioner. I told her that in all our chats I had obviously never conveyed properly that she was talking to the Queen Of Flirting of the 1980's, and I was sure I had not lost my touch!
Fast forward to Wednesday morning, I emailed my friend Danielle to tell her that I was doing a HAPPY DANCE. Two gorgeous young men had just left my house ...... and I know had airconditioning. Upon re-reading the email I confessed I thought it sounded a bit naughty, but tuff ..... I could now stop my strike and return to work, with a huge smile on my face as I danced around the house (and I'm sorry to say that any poor person I spoke to that day got my version of the new, soon to be a hot hit song "I've Got Air Con Ditioning").
Actually there is a bit of a story to my 2 young male morning visitors. The main guys came the night before to install the unit, but it couldn't be hooked up until the next morning when the electricians arrived, we were to expect them any time from 7am. So usually Farmer Rowe is up around 6am, and now that school is back I'm up around 7.15 - FR decided to try and turf me out of my slumber at 7am, telling me they could be here any minute. Now you need to know that it was a very hot night, all windows in our bedroom were open, curtains pulled wide open. As it was a little overcast outside I put on the bedroom light to find appropriate clothing (lets start with underwear), when Jessica comes in with the phone, one of FRs friends needed a favour, with bra now hooked I grabbed the phone to quickly take his message - when suddenly I sighted a young man walking down my drive STRAIGHT TOWARDS MY BEDROOM WINDOW - poor Peter got a shriek in his ear and then a whispered "hang on a sec" while I hit the floor, scrambling for clothes - the another young man walked around the other side of the house COMING TOWARDS THE OTHER BEDROOM WINDOW, if you could only see me darting around doors, grabbing clothes, trying not to step on Peter (still on the phone wondering what on earth was going on), quickly grabbing phone and telling him what was going on - okay, too much information I realised afterwards! - and then bolting down the hall to casually great them at the backdoor, hoping and praying that that was the first time they'd seen me!
So now the real work starts, as the airconditioner was not put in our original suggested spot, I'm actually being thrown out of my huge workroom (now to be our lounge room) and I'm moving into the lounge/entrance (although I do get my own entrance at last), so I'm madly trying to get it all finished before 44 degrees hits on Saturday - wish me luck!
And now to my 2nd love this week. I've hated this "bleeping" computer for a couple of months - any emails were usually scrambled, so I could not enjoy reading my lovely emails and comments .... so imagine my delight at finding true love again, so many heartfelt, beautiful, thoughtful emails that I'm now skipping to the computer (that's when I'm not dancing with delight in front of the airconditioner), to see what lovely things are there to greet me ... I have missed you all, I'll get back into the swing of things when the rooms are re-arranged. Farmer Rowe has faithfully promised that I can re-paint the new lounge, and that some furniture will be required .... I'm just hoping that his quick adventure to the electrical store has him itching to visit more stores to spend money (hahahahahahahaha, okay can you hear him from the bedroom roaring with laughter at the very thought). When I told BF Keri that he was up for some painting and new furniture, knowing him very well, she said "yes Janet, but did he say when this might happen?".
Oh well, I'm a girl giddy with new love, I shall now go and spend my last 5 minutes of slumber dreaming of colour swatches ............. Oh my gosh, I've just thought, I'll need a new quilt for the room ............ chance to buy fabric ..... oh, I AM in love! Sweet Dreams, Janet xxx

Keep the good feeling, Janet!
Have a lovely weekend.

HI GORGEOUS GIRL....
so you've been swamped in techno nightmares (will definitely have to have a conversation with you on the phone about this...) - but I'm glad it's trying to sort itself out & your back amongst friends!
I think we've all been busy past Dec/January - so don't ever feel guilty... life throws up dilemmas that are sometimes beyond our control... we just have to take the time to sort them out.
But you know you always have really cool friends standing by for you.
ok girlie... it's going to be a scorcher here in Sydney also... I'm dreaming dreams of icicles, but I don't quite think it's helping... hehe... Ok it's time to crank up the airconditioning & cool ourselves off!!
take care hun... have a gorgeous week of cool, creative stitches & inspiration
huge hugs
xoxo

Well I can just imagine you scrambling for your clothes. I did however think you were going to take us through a comando type crawl across the bedroom floor, so as not to be seen by the workers. so glad you now have the ipportunity to keep your cool....lol.... So how much longer before you get your next New Love, decent internet connection?
Did you get the message I left on your answering machine?
